Speaker: Sean Broughton, General Manager – Social and Population Insights
A primary aim of Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ’s household survey programme is to ensure sufficient flexibility and responsiveness to meet Aotearoa New Zealand’s enduring and emerging information needs. Since 2018, the composition of the household survey programme has significantly evolved. So, too, has the context in which they sit.
Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ’s official population and social statistics portfolio is on the precipice of transformation. This has major implications for the household survey programme – from data collection via third parties to increased use of administrative data, to leveraging more complex statistical models and techniques.
In this session, Sean will share a snapshot of Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ’s household survey programme, explore data collection challenges, and provide a glimpse into what the future might hold for household surveys and population and social statistics more broadly.
